Lila Lewis Irving was born in New York City in 1935.
"My painting is an energetic and intense process, which results in emotional and abstracted work, deeply felt. The subject matter varies greatly: landscape, seascape, still life, portrait, pure abstraction and calligraphy, but the impetus remains the same: a response to a visual or emotional reality. The shapes are simplified and bold, the colours are saturated, the brushstrokes, energetic."
